Winter Storm Quade Spreads Snow From Plains and Midwest to the East (Recap)

Quade brought snow from the Plains to the Midwest and East.Areas as far south as northeast Georgia saw snowfall.Southeastern New England was hit by heavy snowfall.

Winter Storm Quade spread snowfall from the Central Plains and Midwest into the Appalachians and Northeast during the first weekend of February.

The storm first brought snow to parts of Nebraska, Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, Illinois and Indiana on Feb. 6. By later that day and overnight, snow developed as far south as northeast Georgia and the southern Appalachians.

Snowfall spread across the mid-Atlantic and Northeast on Feb. 7. Snowfall was heavy at times in parts of the region, especially in southeast New England.

Note: Also included in this image is snowfall from a separate disturbance that impacted the Central Plains on Feb. 7. Lake-effect snow from that weekend is also depicted in this analysis.

Some areas from southeast Pennsylvania into northern New Jersey, southeast New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island and southeastern Massachusetts picked up 6 inches or more of snowfall. The heaviest totals in the Northeast were 14 inches and 12.1 inches in Pascoag, Rhode Island, and Sharon, Massachusetts, respectively.

New York City's Central Park picked up 4.5 inches of snowfall from the storm.
