Winter Storm Lexi Causes Travel Headaches in Mid-Atlantic, New England

Winter Storm Lexi, a quick-hitting system, dropped more than a foot of snow in parts of New England, mucking up the morning commute and frustrating passengers at some of the nation's busiest airports.

By midday, more than 13 inches of snow had fallen in Coventry, Connecticut. Worcester, Massachusetts, saw at least11 inches and more than 10 inches was recorded at Levittown, New York.

School districts in Massachusetts closed, including Boston city schools.

More than 600 flights were canceled -- most originating at airports in the New York and Boston areas, according to FlightAware.

Police in Massachusetts reportedthere have beenon Route 24, between I-95 and Airport Road, according to WPRI.
