Tropical Storm Hanna Forms in the Western Gulf of Mexico as it Inches Closer to Texas Coast; New Warnings Issued

A tropical storm is tracking through the Gulf of Mexico.Bands of locally heavy rain may trigger local flash flooding along the northern and western Gulf Coast.Locally heavy rain may also spread inland over parts of central and South Texas. Some gusty winds, rough surf and minor coastal flooding are possible along the northern and western Gulf Coast.

Tropical Storm Hanna has formed in the western Gulf of Mexico and is tracking westward toward the Texas Coast where it will move inland Saturday. The main threat from this system will be locally heavy rain, but there is also the potential for gusty winds, high surf, rip currents and minor coastal flooding.
