Tropical Storm and Storm Surge Watches Issued For Gulf Coast Ahead of Cristobal
Nov 24, 2024 4:26 PM

Current Storm Status and Projected Path

(The red-shaded area denotes the potential path of the center of the tropical cyclone. It's important to note that impacts (particularly heavy rain, high surf, coastal flooding and strong winds) with any tropical cyclone usually spread beyond its forecast path.)

The National Hurricane Center has issued a tropical storm watch for parts of the northern Gulf Coast from Grand Isle, Louisiana, to Ocean Springs, Mississippi, including Lake Borgne and also from Indian Pass to Arepika, Florida. This means tropical storm-force winds (sustained winds of at least 39 mph) are possible in the area within the next 48 hours.

The NHC has also issued a storm surge watch from Intracoastal City, Louisiana, to the Alabama-Florida border, as well as Lakes Pontchartrain and Maurepas. This means potentially life-threatening inundation from rising water moving inland from the coast is possible within the next 48 hours.
