California's Sierra Nevada is legendary for the feet of snow that can pile up in a few days, and right now, it's providing another eye-popping example.
An active storm track and cold temperatures have allowed parts of this mountain range to get buried by over 10 feet of snowfall in about a week. One example: Palisades Tahoe Ski Resort in seven days as of Wednesday morning.
The result: piles of snow so high the view out of windows is obscured; roofs looking like they are topped by a layered cake; and cliffs of snow hugging the sides of roads.
Here's a collection of some of those views we've seen on social media this week.
Snow covers the view out of a 15-foot-tall window in the Lake Tahoe region.
