Two more early-April snowmakers are expected into early next week.The first system could bring snow as far south as the Ohio Valley and mid-Atlantic.
The calendar may say April, but winter still has a firm grip on the Midwest and East as two separate snowmakers take aim at those regions into early next week.
Cold air will generally remain in place inthe Plains, Midwest and Northeast through the first half of next week. At the same time, two weather systems will ride along an active jet stream dip carved out across the nation's northern tier.

Here's an overview of the two more snowmakers we expect over the next several days.
Snow from the next weather system in this pattern is falling from Oklahoma into the Ohio Valley. Light snow is also occurring in parts of the upstate New York as of midday Saturday.
Parts of southern Kansas and Oklahoma saw icy conditions with occasional sleet and freezing rain Friday night into Saturday morning. Numerous accidents were reported in the Oklahoma City area early Saturday due to slippery conditions from freezing rain.

Saturday
Snow or a rain-and-snow mix is likely from Oklahoma eastward to the Ozarks of Missouri and northern Arkansas to the OhioValley and central Appalachians. Snowfall will weaken north of the Mason-Dixon line during the morning. Some light freezing rain and sleet is possible from Oklahoma to northwestern Arkansas, which may create slippery conditions. Light snow is also likely in parts of the Northeast. The chance for snow may linger in parts of western North Carolina and Virginia into Saturday night.
How Much Snow?
Generally, light snowfall accumulations are expected through Saturday in parts of Oklahoma, Arkansas, as well as in eastern Kentucky, West Virginia and Virginia. Little to no accumulation is expected east of the Appalachians.
The next system is expected to spreadsnow from the northern Rockies into the northern Plains Saturday into Saturday night.
Saturday Night Into Sunday
A mix of snow-and-rain, as well as some freezing rain and sleet is possible Saturday night from southeastern Montana into western Kansas. By Sunday, snow is expected from northwestern Montana into parts of the Dakotas, Minnesota, eastern Nebraska, eastern Kansas and Iowa. A mix of rain-and-snow is currently anticipated farther south in parts of Missouri and Illinois. The chance of snow will stretch from North Dakota southeastward into Ohio and West Virginia Sunday night.

Some light snow may linger in portions of the Midwest and Northeast Monday into Tuesday, but it is too early for details.
Moderate to locally heavy snowfall is most likely in parts of northeastern Montana, parts of the Dakotas and into southern Minnesota and northern Iowa. Light snow is currently anticipated farther south and east.
Gusty winds are also possible in the northern Plains which would reduce visibility.
