A storm system is blasting the Southwest with snow. Snow has fallen in parts of Las Vegas and in the higher suburbs of Phoenix.This system will only bring light snow to the central and East Wednesday.
A storm in the Desert Southwest dumped snow in the high country of California and in the suburbs of Las Vegas and Phoenix, but it won't have much left in the tank by the time it reaches the later Wednesday.

About a half inch of snow was reported in the western Las Vegas suburb of Summerlin, Monday afternoon. According to the National Weather Service, snow fell as low as 2,500 feet elevation, nearly to the floor of the Vegas valley.
A winter weather advisory has been issued through Tuesday morning for the entire Vegas Valley above 2,000 feet elevation, including The Strip and McCarran Airport, where up to 1 inch of snow was forecast.
The last time measurable snow fell on the Las Vegas Strip was in February 2019.

A band of rain and thunderstorms also temporarily brought a few snowflakes down to the ground in Cave Creek, Fountain Hills, Scottsdale, Mesa and Wickenburg, Arizona, north of Phoenix.
A line of severe t-storms Monday afternoon downed trees, some onto an apartment and carport in the Phoenix metro area.
And in northern Arizona, heavy snow made travel difficult on stretches of Interstates 17 and .
The snow will continue into Tuesday in the Desert Southwest and Four Corners from southern Nevada and southern Utah into Arizona, New Mexico and Colorado.
The heaviest additional snow totals will occur over the Mogollon Rim of Arizona into southwest New Mexico, as well as the Canyonlands of southwest Utah.
Snow and Rain Forecast
Once the system moves into the central U.S. beginning Tuesday night, it will gain speed and become more moisture-starved.
In fact it will head out to sea already by Thursday. It will then turn into a powerful ocean storm that generates huge waves, but only once it's well off the Eastern Seaboard.
Light snowfall from this system will spread from parts of Kansas and Nebraska on Tuesday night into the Ozarks, Ohio Valley and parts of northern Tennessee by Wednesday.
St. Louis, Louisville, Kentucky, and Cincinnati are among the cities that might see some light accumulating snow.
Wednesday's Forecast
Light snow will then move eastward into the central and southern Appalachians and possibly parts of Virginia and North Carolina Wednesday night into early Thursday.
Given the system's fast movement, any snowfall in these areas is expected to be light, but could still lead to some slippery travel, particularly on untreated roads or in hilly/mountainous terrain.
