PGA Tour golfers have battled through some tough weather conditions early in this season.
The first event of 2013 in Maui was plagued by delays and shortened to 54 holes due to strong winds.
In La Jolla, Calif., fog caused delays during the Farmers Insurance Open in late January. Play on Saturday was completely wiped out due to fog and the tournament concluded on a Monday for the first time in history.
This week, the tour has shifted to Tucson, Ariz. for the Accenture Match Play Championship where weather has forced the cancellation of Wednesday's matches. This time snow is the culprit, a rare occurrence for a PGA Tour event.
In around one hour late Wednesday morning, Tucson went from 50 degrees and dry to 33 degrees and moderate snow.
While snow occurs in the mountains around Tucson in the winter, it's more unusual in the city. Tucson averages less than one inch of snow each winter, but has seen as much as 6.8 inches in one day on Dec. 8, 1971.
PGA Tour meteorologist Stewart Williams expects play to resume Thursday morning.
The Temperatures may be near 60 on Friday and in the middle 60s on Saturday.
