An intense geomagnetic storm shot amazing streaks of color across the sky to the delight of stargazers in the United Kingdom and Germany on Sunday night.
The eye-popping Aurora Borealis light display was a rare treat for these central Europeans, as the phenomenon is typically only visible to people living in farther north latitudes.

Many excited amateur astronomers snapped exquisite shots of the nighttime sky lit up in striking purple, green and blue. ABC News also reported sightings being seen in Maine and Massachusetts.
According to The Washington Post, NOAA forecasters expect the geomagnetic storm to continue to produce a light show up until Tuesday night, making it visible for sky-watchers living in northern elevations.
