Jumbo Jet Photographed From International Space Station Over Germany

From its orbit of more than , the International Space Station (ISS) spotted a jumbo jet cruising over Europe on Wednesday.

,who is on a six-month mission aboard the ISS shows the four-engine aircraft over Mainz, Germany. You can see the plane in the circle weather.com hasadded tohis photograph above.

Trailing behind the plane are its contrails which show upeasily in contrast to the waters of the Rhine River. Contrails are clouds made up of ice crystals created by the exhaust emitted by aircraft that are flying at high altitudes.

The image shows four individual contrails trailing immediately behind the plane before they become more diffuse, indicating this is a large four-engine aircraft. the plane was Qatar Airways Airbus A380flying at about 40,000 feet, roughly 7.5 miles,above Earth.
