Two tropical systems passed near Hawaii in early August.Erick moved well south of Hawaii and Flossie tracked to the north of the islands.

Erick and Flossie were both hurricanes at one point in their life span but passed near Hawaii at a much weaker intensity in early August.

Erick moved well south of the Big Island as a tropical storm on Aug. 1 but did enhance rainfall there. There were , including one on Highway 19 near Hilo, according to Hawaii News Now.

A few days later on Aug. 4, Flossie moved just north of the Hawaiian Islands as a tropical depression.

Both storms churned up high surf in Hawaii.
