Hurricane Dorian ravaged the northwest Bahamas as a Category 5, causing severe wind damage and inundating parts of the islands with feet of storm surge.

An aerial photo taken by the on Monday shows how trees were shredded of their vegetation by Dorian's winds when compared to how the area looked before the hurricane struck. The photo was taken from Marsh Harbour in the Abacos near where Dorian made its first landfall in the Bahamas.

Dorian's stall near Grand Bahama Island from late Sunday into early Tuesday inundated large portions of that island with storm surge.

The satellite comparison below shows what parts of Grand Bahama Island were underwater Monday. For clarity, the yellow lines show the coastline of Grand Bahama Island when the water level is normal, and roads are depicted in white.

Darker shaded portions of the island within the yellow borders were still dry land while the turquoise color shows what areas were submerged by ocean water.
