Barry, Now a Hurricane, Expected to Make Landfall in Louisiana in Next Few Hours

Barry strengthened into a hurricane Saturday morning.Landfall is expected in the next few hours.The worst conditions and heaviest rainfall are just beginning to move into the region.

Barry has reached hurricane strength as it moves onto the Louisiana coast, with landfall expected in the next few hours.

It is important to remember that with Barry, the worst of the conditions are just beginning. Torrential rainfall will spread into the lower Mississippi Valley through this weekend. As a result, major river flooding and flash flooding are expected in parts of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Arkansas and Tennessee.

Storm-surge flooding and strong winds are also concerns and power outages are likely.
