An Army Of Weather Stations Helps NOAA Monitor The Ocean
Jan 17, 2024 3:32 PM

We talked with the director of NOAA's National Data Buoy Center about their network of weather stations, some of the most dangerous in the world. Sailors rely on the data daily to safely navigate the ocean around the Atlantic and Pacific. The buoys and instruments go through rigorous testing prior to deployment, and are designed to withstand all weather. NOAA says the data is useful for studying climate change in addition to monitoring day-to-day ocean conditions.
