The Saddest City in America is…?

What makes the citizens of a city happy or sad? While the daily forecast changes people’s moods day-to-day and the natural beauty of a place has impact, takes a look at six areas: “life evaluation, emotional health, work environment, physical health, healthy behaviors, and access to basic necessities.”

Gallup has been tracking those areas via daily polling since 2008 and has released the results of its 2012 polls - this time broken down by metropolitan area.

Take a look at the slideshow above: Is your city one of the saddest?

The results are consistent with those from Gallup’s statewide polls – cities in Southern States generally did worse in terms of well-being than those in the West and Midwest ().
