A rare lunar eclipse, known as the super blood wolf moon, graced Sunday's night sky, .
Stargazers gathered throughout North and South America, parts of Europe and western Africa to watch the total lunar eclipse, while , CNN reported.
According to Space.com, the eclipse is called a "blood moon" due to the copper color given to the moon's appearance when through the Earth's atmosphere.
The eclipse coincided with a supermoon, a lunar event when the moon is full and closest to the Earth in orbit. The "wolf" part of this moon's name is .
