Oregon Man Survives Five Days Eating Taco Sauce Packets While Stranded in Snowbound SUV

An Oregon man and his dog, stranded in the snow for five days, survived by eating taco sauce and starting the SUV's engine occasionally to stay warm.

Jeremy Taylor was driving his Toyota 4Runner on Feb. 24 when it got stuck in the snow on Fire Service Road west of Sunriver, Oregon, the Deschutes County Sheriff's Office said.

Taylor, 36, told officials he and his dog Ally slept in the SUV. On Monday, he and the dog tried to hike out, but the snow was too deep and they returned to the vehicle.

"Jeremy stayed warm over the next four days by periodically starting his vehicle and ," the sheriff's office said in a Facebook post.

About 2:15 p.m. Friday, a snowmobiler alerted the sheriff's office that he had found Taylor.

An Oregon Water Resource snowcat drove a member of the search and rescue team to the site.

Taylor and Ally were hungry but otherwise were in good condition, the sheriff's office said.

"Thank you everyone, I'm safe, my Ally dog is safe," Taylor , according to KTVZ. "I really appreciate all the help. Got lucky, lets never do that again. I'll be in touch with everyone soon."

On Saturday, Taylor responded to a comment about the taco sauce packets.

"Taco Bell fire sauce saves lives," he wrote.
