Jan 9, 2025
These tips will help keep your skin healthy and glowing all winter long, but remember, consistency is key with any wellness routine, so make sure to map out your plan and stick to it. Now that winter has officially taken over Ontario, we collectively will be spending more time inside with dry air, meaning our skin will take some damage. As your body’s largest organ, your skin’s health can impact your overall wellness, so take extra care to invest in a good skincare routine. The most important parts of a winter routine are to be gentle and focus on moisturizing. Read ahead for six tips that will help you pamper your skin all winter long. Go Fragrance-Free & Skip Harsh Exfoliation Winter is a great time to reassess your skincare routine and make some adjustments. During colder seasons, our skin is not only drier but more sensitive, too. If you’re used to harsh physical exfoliants during the summer, it’s best to skip that step and opt for a gentler approach during the winter months. While medication is often a necessary part of treatment, numerous lifestyle changes can naturally lower cholesterol and improve overall heart health. These changes, backed by scientific research, focus on dietary swaps, increased physical activity, and stress reduction techniques. This isn't about drastic overhauls but incorporating sustainable habits that can make a real difference over time. 1. Research consistently demonstrates the positive impact of soluble fibre on lowering LDL ("bad") cholesterol. 2. Nearly All Of Puerto Rico Is Without Power On New Year's Eve
Nearly All Of Puerto Rico Is Without Power On New Year's Eve
Jan 3, 2025
A widespread power outage left nearly all of Puerto Rico without electricity early Tuesday as residents prepared to ring in the new year. Over 1.3 million customers were affected with officials warning that full restoration could take up to two days. Utility officials are blaming the outage on a failed underground transmission line. The blackout, which began at dawn, created an unsettling stillness across the island as appliances and air conditioners lost power. For those with access to generators, a mechanical hum soon filled the silence. “It had to be on the 31st of December!” exclaimed one man, who only gave his name as Manuel, as he stood outside a grocery store in the capital of San Juan, grumbling about the outage that coincided with his birthday. “There is no happiness.” Nearly 90% of 1.47 million clients across Puerto Rico were left in the dark, according to Luma Energy, a private company that oversees electricity transmission and distribution. It estimated that power would be restored in 24 to 48 hours, conditions permitting. Luma said in a statement that it is restoring power “in the quickest and safest way possible.” With no idea when power would return, Puerto Ricans began to...

"The really nice thing about this snowfall across the Northeast and New England today is, basically, it's not sticking to the roadways in most areas," he said. While the wet snow left roads slick and slushy in areas seeing the heaviest accumulations, cars and buses were able to navigate with very little trouble during the workday. This snow event,...
