Hurricane Michael heavily damaged the home of the mother of country music star Luke Bryan.Her Mexico Beach, Florida, home sustained serious damage to both the interior and exterior.The town was one of the hardest hit by the massive Category 4 hurricane.

Country music star Luke Bryan's mother is starting over at the site of her home in Mexico Beach, Florida, in the wake of Hurricane Michael.

LeClaire Bryan returned to survey the damage last Friday, and the scene was too much for her to handle. In an image posted in the gallery above, Bryan was seen hunched over on the back of a Gator vehicle, consoled by fellow resident James Whiddon, , according to People Magazine.

Bryan told People Magazine that she boarded up the windows ahead of Michael's Oct. 10 landfall, but her home still suffered major damage. Cabinets were ripped open and furniture was thrown and damaged by the Category 4 hurricane, she said. Sand caked the walls and floors, blasted into the home by the storm's 155-mph winds.

As Michael hammered the Florida Panhandle, the country singer asked his fans to pray for those in the storm's path.

"Hey everyone. Pray for my people. So many dear people I know are being affected. My mother and so many friends ," he tweeted.

Despite the devastating losses, LeClaire said in a video shared on social media by her son that she appreciates all the well-wishes and has been delighted by how the coastline's residents have banded together to clean up.

"This community ," she said in the video. "We are a family; we're rebuilding. We love you, we know you're thinking about us."

The storm has claimed nearly 40 lives, including 21 in Bay County, Florida, where Mexico Beach is located.
