More than a dozen people were killed and 34 injured when part of a hotel collapsed during a wedding Sunday in Peru, authorities said.

Jorge Chavez, chief of the Civil Defense institute, told RPP that 15 people were killed and 34 injured in the collapse of the hotel in Abancay in the Apurímac region of southern-central Peru, about 300 miles southeast of Lima, the capital.

Chavez said dozens of people were dancing at the wedding party when they were caught under the collapsing wall and roof, according to the Associated Press.

Peru's national health agency, EsSalud, said for their injuries at the Guillermo Díaz de la Vega Hospital.
