Nov 24, 2024 6:02 AM

With a few days left in the month, several cities in the Upper Midwest, Great Lakes and northern New England are flirting with a top 10 coldest March. It's a huge turnaround from two years ago in March 2012 when many of these same cities saw their warmest March on record.

For each location below, we have provided where this month currently ranks among the coldest Marches on record and the projected final ranking based on the forecast.

We also show the monthly average temperature so far in March 2014 compared to the record warmth in March 2012. In some cases, you'd have to more than double the average monthly temperature so far in March 2014 to equal the warmth that we saw two years ago!

Keep in mind these rankings will change and won't be final until the end of March 31.
