Scientists Hope To Unlock Secrets of ‘Indestructible Plant’

The Welwitschia plant, which grows in the Namib Desert in southern Africa, can live for thousands of years. Its name in Afrikaans, “tweeblaarkanniedood,” means “two leaves that cannot die.” Scientists are studying its DNA.
