Tropical Storm Sally has strengthened as it approaches the northern Gulf Coast, where conditions will go downhill beginning later today.
Maximum sustained winds increased to 65 mph at 7 a.m. CDT on Monday. Sally is forecast to continue intensifying and could become a hurricane before moving ashore Monday night through Tuesday.
Sally poses serious threats of storm surge and flooding rainfall, from southeast Louisiana to the western Florida Panhandle. Sally will also spread flooding rainfall farther inland across parts of the Southeast.
