Two incredible events could be seen from the : the launch ofNASA's Black Brant IX sounding rocket and the colorful, glowing clouds of barium vapor it produces, according to NASA.

If the weather cooperates, at 7 p.m. EDT from the Wallops Island Flight Facility in Virginia. The liftoff could potentially create several multicolored patches of light that can be seen, along with the rocket, for people on the coast in the Middle Atlantic and Northeast United States.

"Residents from Long Island, New York, 235 miles north of the launch site, to Morehead City, North Carolina, 232 miles south, 165 miles west in Charlottesville, Virginia — and everyone in between — could get a glimpse of the colorful evening launch," said .

Fortunately, the forecast appears to indicate that many people will be able to see this incredible phenomenon between 7 and 9 p.m.

"With weak high pressure still in control of much of the East, mostly clear skies can be expected from the NYC metro area to eastern North Carolina,"said weather.com senior meteorologistJonathan Erdman.

Residents within the circles outlined on the map above should be able to look up later tonight and see the barium clouds. The clouds will persist for approximately two minutes, but could linger for up to 20 minutes, according to space.com.
