Winter Storm Neptune moved out of the Midwest Sunday, leaving dangerous roads and brutally cold temperatures in its wake.
Sunday morning, along Chicago's Kennedy Expressway, at least 38 cars were involved in a pileup , NBC Chicago reported. Eleven people were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries and , according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
Wind chills plunged to the 40s-below-zero Sunday morning in parts of northern Michigan, creating extremely dangerous conditions for anyone stuck outside. It followed a deadly Saturday for the upper Midwest, where three people were killed in Ohio crashes and one person died on Indiana roads.

State police confirmed that a 30-vehicle pileup killed two people on the Ohio Turnpike Saturday afternoon. 32-year-old Beverly Smith and her unborn child , WKYC.com reported. Low visibility and poor road conditions likely caused the accident, which occurred just east of Sandusky.
The third fatality on Ohio roads occurred along Interstate 71 in Morrow County, where a 24-year-old man was riding in a car that collided with a tractor-trailer and ran off the road, according to The Associated Press.
A multi-vehicle crash in LaPorte County, Indiana, killed 7-year-old Bridget Miller, the La Porte County Sheriff's Department said. Sheriff's deputies reported Saturday, WSBT 22 reports. Police say the accident happened on US-20 near the town of Rolling Prairie, Indiana.

The LaPorte County Board of Commissioners declared a state of emergency. Officials asked that residents avoid all non-essential traffic.

Gusts of at least 70 mph were clocked along the Lake Superior shoreline from Copper Harbor to Granite Island, according to the National Weather Service.
Compounding the misery, wind chills were in the 20s-below-zero in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan Saturday night.
