Projected Path

(The red-shaded area denotes the potential path of the center of the tropical cyclone. It's important to note that impacts (particularly heavy rain, high surf, coastal flooding, winds) with any tropical cyclone usually spread beyond its forecast path.)

Lorenzo has intensified into a hurricane over the open waters of the eastern Atlantic Ocean.

It's possible the hurricane could strengthen further over the next 12 to 24 hours while heading northwestward.

Lorenzo is forecast to turn toward the north this weekend, then northeast early next week. It could track near the Azores mid- to late next week.
