NASA recently released a beautiful image that shows the International Space Station and its six passengers passing in front of the sun.
The photo, which is actually a composite of 10 photos, shows the ISS streaking in front of the surface of the sun , according to NASA.
The image was taken Saturday in Newbury Park, California. Despite the illusion that the ISS is close to the sun in these images, it's in no dangerand is orbiting the Earth at a distance of nearly 100 million miles from the sun.

Aboard the space station, the astronauts have turned their attention to the holiday week and how they'll spend it. In a recent YouTube broadcast, the ISS astronauts said and spend some time looking at Earth and imagining the celebrations happening miles below.
"I was born in a very big family, I had 25 cousins and for most of them, the only time to catch up was around Christmas," French astronaut Thomas Pesquet said in the video. "This year, I won’t be able to be there, of course, but I’ll think of them, I’ll try to give them a call, catch up as much as I can, and make the most of this opportunity to look at the Earth and reflect on what Christmas means to us as individuals."
