Hurricane Ida Evacuations in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama: Where They're Mandatory and Optional

Mandatory evacuations were ordered in parts of New Orleans and other areas.Voluntary evacuations were issued for some spots.

Mandatory and voluntary evacuations are in effect for many areas in southern Louisiana and Mississippi ahead of Hurricane Ida.

Here's a running list of evacuations so far:

Louisiana

-A mandatory evacuation was issued Saturday for all residents in .

-All of 's 52,000 residents have been ordered to evacuate by 5 p.m. Saturday.

-Areas of outside of the levee system, including the communities of Lake Catherine, Irish Bayou and Venetian Isles, were ordered to evacuate Friday. The rest of Orleans Parish is under a voluntary evacuation.

-Areas outside of the levees in , including , Jean Lafitte, Lower Lafitte and Crown Point are under a mandatory evacuation order. Areas inside of levees are under a voluntary evacuation. Shelters are set to open Saturday at noon in Lafourche Parish at Central Lafourche High School and Thibodaux High School. Evacuees should bring their own sleeping bags and food. -In , a previous mandatory order for certain areas has been extended to include all residents.

-An evacuation order was issued for the East Bank of and the West Bank of Plaquemines Parish from Phillips 66 Alliance Refinery to Venice. A shelter will be open in West Monroe and buses will run for those who need transportation.

-A mandatory evacuation went into effect at 5 a.m. Saturday for residents in . Shelters were set to open at noon at Central Lafourche High School and Thibodaux High School.

-There's also a mandatory evacuation for at the southern tip of Lafourche Parish.

Mississippi

-Some residents in are under a mandatory evacuation as of 10 a.m. Saturday. The order includes those living in low-lying areas, along rivers and in mobile homes, recreational vehicles and modular homes. A shelter will open at 18320 Highway 43 in Kiln.

-The harbormaster in ordered that all boats be removed from the water at the Municipal Marina's slips and Bert Jones Yacht Basin.

Alabama

-Residents in the low-lying west-end beach area of Dauphin Island were encouraged to evacuate by Friday.
