The Australia-based photographer who goes by the pseudonym Urbexography, has been captivated with derelict buildings his whole life. The 47-year old urban explorer says that his passion is fueled mostly by an interest in the history of dwellings left to the elements to crumble and decay.

"Part of the experience is to just stand there for a moment, before you go in, trying to experience what went on 50 or 60, sometimes even 100 years ago, and you try and imagine how people lived,"Urbexography told the Australian newspaper, The Examiner.

One of his projects, titled "Windows," offers a unique perspective of these abandoned and weather-beaten homes and buildings. The collection is comprised of views from the windows of the homes, offering just a brief glimpse of the building itself. What is captured is similar to a painting, with a juxtaposition of the houses' decay to the thriving forests and yards beyond.

Urbexography operates with utmost respect for the places he photographs. "I would never force entry, never steal, never alter what I find," he writes on his website. "Entering and exiting, leaving perhaps a footprint only, I will capture and document via imagery and deliver it in a way I see it."Click through the slideshow above for some of Urbexography's hauting images.
