Five Cities with Great Weekend Weather
Five Cities with Great Weekend Weather
Nov 21, 2024 8:28 PM

Burlington, Vt.

While there are many more cities that will enjoy fantastic weather this weekend, here are our five picks for the weekend ahead beginning with Burlington, Vt.

(FORECAST: Sat | Sun)

High pressure is large and in charge for this city located on Lake Champlain.

With sunny skies and high temperatures rising well above average into the 80s Saturday and Sunday, it's an ideal weekend to visit the lake. Mornings will be refreshing with lows in the upper 40s and low 50s.

Many cities will enjoy a nice weekend in the Northeast, so we picked another location from the region next.

New York City

The same high-pressure system bringing the pleasant weather to Burlington will do the same for New York City.

Highs will top out in the middle to upper 70s this weekend under mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies. This is around five degrees above average for middle May, perfect for a day at the park or an outdoor early afternoon lunch.

From the Northeast we head to the Midwest next.

Indianapolis, Ind.

The host of this past season's Super Bowl should stay far enough to the east of a cold front bringing thunderstorms to the Plains this weekend. Any storm chances in the city should hold off until late Sunday night or Monday, so daytime plans will be worry-free.

Expect mostly sunny skies for both days with high rising well above average into the middle 80s. While this may be heading into the "uncomfortable" territory for some, low humidity levels will compensate and make it feel more pleasant Saturday afternoon. Just make sure you pick a spot in the shade if you plan any outdoor activities.

For the next two cities we head to the western states, where there is an added bonus to the great weather.

Albuquerque, N.M.

Dry desert air, sunny skies and highs in the low to middle 80s. What could be better than that?

Whether you're golfing, hiking or taking a stroll in Old Town Albuquerque, the weather won't interfere with your plans this weekend.

As an added bonus to the great weather, Albuquerque will be a prime spot to experience the first annular solar eclipse since 1994 in the United States. The annular eclipse will begin Sunday at 7:33 pm MDT, peak at 7:35 pm MDT and end at 7:38 pm MDT. A partial eclipse will start at 6:28 pm MDT and continue past the 8:20 pm MDT sunset.

Our next pick is another western city that will share in this weekend bonus.

Reno, Nev.

A sunny weekend is ahead for "The Biggest Little City in the World". Although temperatures will head toward "hot" territory with highs in the upper 80s on Sunday, we still gave them a spot on our list since the city will be a great viewing place for the annular solar eclipse on Sunday.

The annular eclipse will begin Sunday at 6:28 pm PDT, peak at 6:30 pm PDT and end at 6:32 pm PDT. A partial eclipse will start at 5:15 pm PDT and continue until the 7:37 pm PDT.

Until the eclipse begins late Sunday, how about a trip up to Lake Tahoe to enjoy the beautiful weather? Temperatures will also be cooler there (70s) if highs in the middle and upper 80s aren't your thing.
