Eastern Coastal Low Will Linger Through Early Week

A coastal low will bring soaking rain, rip currents, high surf and coastal flooding to parts of the Southeast and mid-Atlantic through Memorial Day.

The area of low pressure is spinning over the Carolinas, where it's producing areas of rain and thunderstorms.

H​ere's what you can expect. Soaking rain will spread into the Carolinas, Virginia and the Central Appalachians through the weekend.

The holiday weekend may not be a complete washout in these areas, but keep in mind this risk of showers and thunderstorms if you have outdoor plans.

T​emperatures will be held down through the long weekend and it will feel more like early spring rather than the unofficial start to summer. Temperatures will lift into the 70s or low 80s just about everywhere for the remainder of the long weekend.

Flood Threat? S​ome isolated flooding is possible in the mid-Atlantic through Monday, but will be highest closest to the coast and in the higher terrain of the Appalachians.
