Hurricane Dorian is growing in size and new hurricane warnings and watches have been posted by the National Hurricane Center (NHC) for the coasts of South Carolina and North Carolina.
New hurricane warnings are now in effect from north of Edisto Beach, South Carolina, to South Santee River, South Carolina. This includes Charleston.
A new hurricane watch has also been issued farther north along the coast from South Santee River, South Carolina, to Duck, North Carolina, including the Albemarle and Pamlico Sounds.
Various other hurricane and tropical storm watches and warnings remain in effect for parts of coastal Georgia and the eastern Florida Peninsula.
The NHC also said Dorian's wind field has grown in size. Tropical storm force winds now extend out 175 miles from its center and hurricane-force winds extend out up to 60 miles.
Dorian now has maximum sustained winds of 110 mph, making it a Category 2 on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale.
