Astronauts on the International Space Station are the science sweethearts of social media, regularly posting incredible photos of our planet from space.
But a newly-released image from NASA, taken from above the Bahamas, is getting a lot of extra attention.
This week, NASA shared an astronaut’s photo shot July 19 above Great Exhuma Island, one of the more remote islands of the Bahamas. The astronaut was trying to capture the area’s prominent tidal channels that run between the islands, where NASA says, “The darker blue sections are the deepest parts of the channels, where the water flow has cut through the rock ridge that makes the line of cays.”
But look a little closer at that image, and something unexpected pops up. Skies were so clear, and the astronaut’s camera hand so steady, you can actually see an airplane and its contrail flying above the islands.
Close up view of the image above the Bahamas shows an airplane flying about the islands.

The image is the newest in a line of incredibly impressive photos from space. Earlier this month, shows a lightning strike on Earth which is reflected off the ISS solar panel.
