Photos of a huge, blood red moon rising behind Manhattan's skyline have gone viral. Though it may look like a photoshopped image placing Mars in the Big Apple, it's real. And for photographer Jennifer Khordi, it took a lot of planning.
In fact, it took two whole years of planning to capture the perfect image of the moon rising over One World Trade Center in lower Manhattan.
"I've been shooting the moon for two years now and ," the New Jersey-based photographer told Daily Mail. She said she used the Photographer's Ephemeris, a tool that calculates where the moon's light will fall on land.
Even with all the planning, the shoot depended on the weather.
"I was very lucky to have a clear night, clear air, little haze and no clouds," she said.

She told The Telegraph that her favorite shot was the one where the moon is .
"I have always wanted to get this shot," she said. "The moon is a fickle beast!"
