Singapore's Changi Airport was named the World's Best Airport in 2016 by World Airport Awards. This is the fourth year that Changi Airport, one of the largest transportation hubs in Southeast Asia, was awarded the top spot by Skytrax,a global airline review and rating agency.
For many of the millions of passengers that fly through and out of Changi, the title is not a surprise. The airport is known for its continual physical upgrades to its existing terminals and for building new facilities to maintain its reputation in airport service quality. It also boasts numerous shopping and dining options, a rooftop cactus garden, two 24-hour movie theaters, and a Balinese-themed outdoor pool, according to Fortune.
"To be named the World's Best Airport by Skytrax for the fourth year running is a significant achievement for Changi Airport and a clear affirmation that we continue to hit the right notes in our pursuit of service excellence," saidLee Seow Hiang, CEO of Changi Airport Group. "We do not take this recognition for granted; it is the extraordinary effort and commitment of the entire airport community that drives Changi’s success."
