Winter Storm Marcus brought half a foot of snow to portions of New York this weekend, and drivers across the state faced a risky morning commute as freezing rain and snow continue to hit the roads Monday.

Across the Tri-State area,Monday, Fox 5 says. For many districts in the region, this is the second Monday in a row with canceled classes.
Amtrak canceled, limiting service from Albany to New York City.
Hundreds of flights have been canceled out of New York's major airports ahead of Marcus' worst impacts. At LaGuardia, , according to FlightAware; JFK International canceled 102 flights Monday morning.

Late Sunday, Governor Cuomo released a statement urging caution through Tuesday as Marcus drops ice and snow throughout the state.
“As another winter storm approaches the state, I'm urging all New Yorkers to be extra alert and plan ahead when driving to stay safe and avoid delays,” Cuomo said. “We have deployed resources in every region of the state to respond and will closely monitor conditions as the storm progresses over the next 36 hours.”

In upstate New York, Marcus was dumping snow from Buffalo to the Hudson Valley on Monday morning, a day after up to 6 inches fell on parts of the region. School closings or delays are reported from the western Finger Lakes to the borders of the New England states.
