Winter Storm Linus: Driving Conditions Decline Across Midwest; Semi Overturns in Northwest Missouri

Winter Storm Linus continued its trek east Saturday night after moving out of the Southwest Saturday afternoon. Linus pushed into the Plains, causing slide-offs in Iowa.

Here are the latest impacts for each state in Linus' path.

Illinois

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel is directing the Department of Streets and Sanitation to deploy a snow fleet to help clear the city's main streets Sunday night. This flight includes snow plows, salt spreaders and 4x4 vehicles.

NBC Chicago reports that O'Hare has canceled 940 flights and Midway has canceled 190:

Iowa

Driving conditions became dicey Saturday night near Ankeny, Iowa, per a retweet via the National Weather Service in Des Moines' Twitter:

Missouri

A tractor-trailer overturned on northbound Interstate 35 in Harrison County, blocking all lanes of the roadway, a deputy emergency manager said, according to the NWS. The roadway is expected to remain closed for five hours, per the Missouri Department of Transportation.

New Mexico

Adverse weather and road conditions contributed to the Friday, KOAT-TV said.

U.S. Route 84/285 was closed Friday afternoon in both directions by the New Mexico State Police but has since reopened, KOB-TV reported. of the 599 interchange from Highway 14 to the 84/285 interchange, as well.

A Sunday night in preparation for Linus' arrival, according to the Ohio Turnpike website. The ban will go into effect at 8 a.m. Sunday morning and last until 12:00 p.m. Monday afternoon.
