Winter Storm Inga brought parts of the South their fourth dose of snow and ice this winter.Snow and sleet were reported in the western Florida Panhandle for the third time this season.Up to a foot of snow was measured in portions of the East, even as far south as North Carolina.The Midwest also saw snow from Inga.
Winter Storm Ingabrought a mess of snow and ice to parts of the Midwest, South and East Jan. 14-17, 2018. The worst impacts were in the South where Inga snarled travel and caused hundreds of accidents.

Snow was reported as far south as Panama City and , early Jan. 17, and sleet accumulated on vehicle tops and grassy areas in Pensacola, Florida, overnight Jan. 16-17. This was the third snow event of the winter in northern Florida.

Snow also , overnight Jan. 16-17. Mobile Regional Airport officially measured 0.1 inches of snow and sleet, making it only the occurred in the same winter–January 1977 being the other.
In Atlanta, 2.3 inches of snow was recorded Jan. 16-17, shutting down schools, triggering major delays at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airportand making roads treacherous.
Charlotte and Raleigh-Durham International Airport picked up 3.5 inches and 5.9 inches of snow, respectively.
As much as a foot of snow was measuredin Teer, North Carolina, some 15 miles northwest of Chapel Hill.
In western North Carolina, Waynesville (elevation: 3,800 feet)picked up 3.5 inches of snow in just 2 hours early Jan. 17.
Farther west, portions of the and Houston metros picked up light freezing rain and sleet accumulations Jan. 16, leading to numerous accidents. State Highway 225 in Deer Park, east of Houston, was , and at the Fred Hartman Bridge led to delays in that area during the evening commute.
Sleet drifts had topped a half-foot in portions of the Houston metro area by late Jan. 16. , as temperatures plunged into the upper teens and 20s.
Icy conditions were also reported to theeast of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, resulting in accidents near Canton.
Inga was , bringing sleet as far south as Brownsville, resulting in icy roadsthere.
With 0.8inches of snow measured Tuesday in Jackson, Mississippi, itwas enough to slicken roads, causing a tanker truckto jackknife on Interstate 55 northbound. The highway had to be to remove the truck. Early Jan. 17, .
in the immediate Shreveport, Louisiana, area due to wintry travel conditions. The city officially received 1.8 inches of snow, marking the first time an inch or more had accumulated in the city since 3.1 inches was recorded on Feb. 25, 2015.
Inga brought some impressive snowfall totals to western Kentucky Jan. 15-16, including 9 inches in Murray and 8.1 inches at the National Weather Service office inPaducah. Up to 8.5 inchesof snow was measured in northern Arkansas near Omaha.
Snow-covered roads were reported in the Memphis and Nashville, Tennessee, metro areas Jan. 15-16, where 1 to 3 inches had fallen.

Inga was a minor to locally moderate snow event for much of the Northeast region.
A light dusting of snow blanketed the Washington D.C. metro area, which amounted to 0.4 inches at Reagan-National Airport, while the New York City metro area saw a mix of light rain and snow. Officially, Central Park reported 0.4 inches of snow, but Newarkmeasured an inch.
Other parts of the Northeast had picked up over 6 inches of snow, including EastMachias, Maine (11inches),Stockbridge, Massachusetts (11inches),Rosendale, New York (10inches), Loysville, Pennsylvania (9.5 inches), Dover, New Hampshire (8inches), Canaan, Connecticut (7 inches), and Wantage, New Jersey (6.4inches).
An intense lake-enhanced band of snow hammered Wisconsin's Doore County peninsula with over a foot of snow Jan. 14-15.
Generally, from 2 to 5 inchesof snow fell across the Midwest Jan. 15, including 4.4 inches in Rockford, Illinois, 4.1 inches at the National Weather Service office near Chicago, 3.9 inches at Madison-Dane County Airport in Madison, Wisconsin, and 2 inches in Indianapolis.
A few reports of 6 inches of snow came in from near La Crosse, Wisconsin, and in the town of Streator, Illinois, early Jan. 15. Localized totals topping a half-foot were reported in southeastern Missouri.
