The long Ohio winter took its toll on Trudy Price, a Bowling Green resident who had a special request for her 100th birthday on Monday.

She just wanted to get outside and cut the grass again.

Six months of snow and brutal cold in the Midwest likely left many people longing for the smell of fresh-cut grass and the feeling of a warm breeze, but for this Centenarian, it was also a way to help her feel young again.

So nearby Bowling Green State University helped bring her birthday wish to life, letting her ride atop a grounds crew lawnmower and plant flowers near the student union, the Associated Press reports.

Price refused to wear a pair of gloves that was offered up, saying she preferred to get her hands dirty while doing the yard work, according to the Toledo Blade.

"I have been given so much in my life," she said in the report, stating that her intent was not only personal, but also to give back to her community.

Price also told the AP she still values the importance of exercising and goes for regular walks at the retirement community where she lives.
