Amateur Grand Prize Winner - Conceptual - 1st Place - Jason McGroarty
Thousands of photographers from all over the globe entered the Fine Art Photography Awards for their chance at winning international esteem.
The winners of this year’s competition were announced Friday, July 31. With over 20 categories divided for professional and amateur levels of expertise, the contest allowed photographers in a range of skill sets with the chance to win the grand prize of $3,000 (professional) and $2,000 (amateur).
Some of the categories include travel, cityscapes, panoramas, nature and fine art. Winning photographs captured mountain peaks, frozen lakes, massive waterfalls, roaming grizzly bears and scenes of everyday life in Greenland.
Evgeny Dubinchuk won first place in the travel category for his series on ice skating on Lake Baikal, a rift lake in Russia. The lake is the world’s oldest and deepest freshwater lake, containing .
In the amateur category, Irish photographer, Jason McGroarty, won. His “Project Totem” series captures moments of the wild breaching into city barriers, reminding us of the relationship between humans and wildlife.
Ukrainian photographer Maxim Dondyuk was announced as the overall winner of the professional category with his series called “Culture of the Confrontation,” which documents three months of the Ukrainian revolution in 2013.
