People around the world show their support for science.

Millions around the world marched in support of scientists that convened in Washington, D.C., Saturday to protest cuts being made by the Trump administration.

The March for Science is the product of a that urged people to stand up in support of science on Earth Day. The social media campaign came in light of and the safety of vaccines during his campaign, reports The New York Times.

As President cuts targeted agencies like the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), among others, their resolve to take a stand for science strengthened.

Organizers say their goal is to persuade elected officials to "adopt policies consistent with the scientific consensus on climate change, vaccines and other issues."

“This has been a living laboratory as scientists and science institutions are willing to take a step outside their comfort zone, outside of the labs and into the public spheres,” Beka Economopoulos, co-founder of the pop-up Natural History Museum and an organizer of the march, told the Times. “This represents an escalation of a global movement that you’re just beginning to hear from.”
