Many of the winning images provide a sharp view of organisms you'd find in your garden, from flower buds to petals to the insects that buzz around them. In fact, the first-place photo, taken by Dr. Igor Siwanowicz of the HHMI Janelia Farm Research Campus in Ashburn, Va., captures the humped bladderwort floating plant with its trap open.
