As many as 70 vehicles were involved in a major crash on Interstate 35 near Ames, Iowa, Monday afternoon, the Associated Press reported. One person was killed and, officials told KCCI.com. The highway had reopened in both directions .
Roads in central Iowa were snow-covered at the time of the crash, and up to 7 inches of snow had accumulated in Ames through Monday afternoon.Ames is located about 35 miles north of Des Moines.
