By March, only the avid skier, snowboarder or student looking for more snow days wants more snow, particularly in New England during .
During the final weekend of astronomical winter, a vigorous jet stream dipped over the Northeast and brought deeper, colder air into at least parts of New England as it interacted with a lagging offshore low.
Snow was heavy over parts of northern New England, particularly in northern Maine. In addition, gusty winds as well as a burst of heavy snow dumped 2.9 inches of snow over Boston; this additional snowfall allowed Boston to officially register the greatest snowfall in one season.

Although the storm was short-lived, it did produce the following snow totals throughout the northeastern region:
- 15.8 inches of snow in Presque Isle, Maine- 10.1 inches of snow in Caribou, Maine- 7.1 inches of snow in Bangor, Maine- 2.5 inches of snow in Wakefield, Massachusetts- 2 inches of snow near Waterbury, Vermont- 0.5 inches of snow in Concord, New Hampshire
