Photographers know shooting in the rain can be difficult, but rainfall also offers the opportunity to capture dramatic and mood-filled images, photos that show the true beauty of nature.Photocrowd, a community of photographers from around the world, recently announced the winners of its 'In the Rain' challenge,which featured photos of rainfall around the world. The contest was judged by expert reviewer, Marius Vieth, an Amsterdam-based, award-winning photographer who has written five books on photography and creativity.
The winning photo in the Expert category is Ata Mohammad Adnan's "Monsoon Splash," which depicts two children playing in the rain. "It's so authentic, so real and full of emotions," Vieth said of Adnan's photo. "The two kids playing with the water are so innocent in a way. It's so awesome to see how kids really don't mind the weather. Whether it's raining or the sun is out, they will always find a way to have a great time."

Photographer Froi Rivera also captured the playfulness of children in the rain with a photo taken from her roof, which won second in the Expert category, while Rory McDonald freezes a moment of chaos in the rain and shows how a gray day can be colorful—thanks to umbrellas. "The [colors] fill the frame with so much positivity and life," Vieth said about McDonald's image.
