This is the Organic Modern Estate home built among boulders in Joshua Tree, Calif., a community of about 9,000 people. The town borders the western edge of the Joshua Tree National Forest, which is famous for the old trees of the same name.

Originally built between the late 1980sand early 1990s, architect Ken Kellogg specifically designed the4,642 square-foothome around the desert landscape, making ita mix of "concrete, steel, glass, and copper, perfectly blending with its rocky landscape," according to freshome.com.
The original owners were artists Beverly and Jay Doolittle, who specialized in paintings of the American West, pe.com reports.
