Hilary is now located northeast of San Diego and is moving inland across Southern California as a tropical storm.
Hilary is the first Eastern Pacific system to still be categorized as a tropical storm while crossing into the state since Nora did in 1997, or nearly 26 years ago.
Although Hilary's center is moving inland, the dangerous flooding rainfall threat from the storm is becoming more widespread in Southern California and other parts of the West.
A gust to nearly 70 mph was recently recorded in Yuma, Arizona.
