A new project based in Dubai offers extravagant accommodations and an escape from the desert heat with homes partially submerged underwater.
Nicknamed the “Floating Seahorses,” the structures will be , according to a press release from the Kleindienst Group, who developed the properties. They will have three levels, with the master bedroom and bathroom on the submerged floor. The design was revealed in March at the Dubai International Boat show.
The homes will be part of the Kleindienst Group’s “Heart of Europe,” a to its residents, according to the developer’s website. When completed, the vacation destination will feature private luxury hotel villas, five-star hotels and the floating homes.

The design group has even more elaborate ideas when it comes to the Floating Seahorses. There will be . According to the company, “We will create an artificial coral reef beneath the luxury retreats which will be a protected area in which seahorses can safely live and breed.”
“Many months of research, design and planning have gone into The Floating Seahorse and we are excited to be able to officially launch and build it in Dubai," said CEO Josef Kleindienst. "We are confident that it will set a new benchmark in the luxury lifestyle market worldwide for outstanding innovation, contemporary design and underwater living at its best.”
The homes are and so far 35 of 42 units have been sold, Quartz reports. The first tenants will be able to move into their seahorse homes in 2017.
