Officials in Dallas, Texas, are planning the Trinity River Park, which is expected to be the country's largest urban nature park. The park spans across 10,000 acres and will change with the seasons.

Everything is bigger in Texas, including its parks. Officials in Dallas are currently planning to build the world's largest urban nature park.

“There have been many conversations about what this park can be, and should be, but ,” Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings said in a release on the park. “For too long, this project has divided this city. The concept we now have for the Trinity River Park has the potential to take what has long been a divider in our city and transform it into a connection.”

According to Inhabitant, , which includes the 7,000 acres comprising the Great Trinity Forest.

The park connects both sides of the Trinity River from downtown Dallas to Southern Dallas, West Dallas and Oak Cliff, according to the release. It will feature a naturalized river landscape using native plants and include miles of pathways and trails, as well as sites for five elevated parks with overlooks.

Keeping in line with Mother Nature, the park will change with the seasons.

During rainy seasons, the design of the park allows for flowing waterways and lush greenery and in the drier seasons it takes on a marsh-like waterscape with an exposed river bottom, according to the release.

According to a website about the project, 90 percent of the land will be used for the park itself and , a smaller, lower speed meandering road that provides access to the park from all parts of Dallas.

“Parks are the great gift that one generation can give the next,” said HR&A chairman John Alschuler, who is assisting with the concept of the park, said in a release. “This park will be for centuries to come the center soul of your city.”
