Singapore has built a reputation as one of the greenest cities in the world. In fact, a 2011 study by Siemens and The Economist Intelligence Unit noted "Singapore City stands out in particular for its ambitious environmental targets and its efficient approach to achieving them."

UNStudio's new Ardmore Residence was designed to reflect the city's green thumb.
"The primary concept for the design ... is a multi-layered architectural response to the natural landscape inherent to the 'Garden City' of Singapore," the Amsterdam-based firm explains.
The 36-story tower has large bay windows and balconies to give residents exceptional views of the city's green landscape.
The first residential space is on Ardmore's eighth floor, an intentional move by the architects to allow more room for lush, green landscape at the base of the complex, which includes a sculpture garden and a cascading water garden.
